Make someone a Day

I believe it is the season to get coupled, so many wedding invitation, wedding pics, wedding plans published online, from different friends. Happy for all the new couples.

One of my chorus friend got married as well, though younger than me, but her life process is faster. 1Oct, she will take Emirates flight via Dubai to Europe for her sweet honeymoon. She told me this news cause, I guess, she thinks I need to know for the sake of the fact that I am the staff of this airline. :) meanwhile she is checking some information about Dubai airport. I retrieved her flight booking, a quick thinking immediately clicked in my mind, why not book her a honey moon cake on board. So, I sent email to reservation team, by the way, your email signature really makes difference.  :) Very fast, honey moon got confirmed. I can imagine when she receives the cake from cabin crew, wishing her all the best for her new marriage, taking pics, she will remember me for her life time.

P.S. After I checked reservation manual, confirmed the 1st honey moon cake in my career wz EK, same time I got to know, staff not entitled for this great service, which means, in my life, i can only confirm for other people, but me, myself, can’t have any wedding cake, honey moon cake, bday cake or bon voyage cake … on board!!!

Peaceful Life

Within one week, honey and I managed to move to a new place. It is not easy: comparing all the prices, getting all new furnitures, buying electrics, applying internet and land line, busy but happy. We have our own house now.

Uptown life is much closed to our new place. yet both of us are busy with our work. This new role ’ house wife’ is far more difficult than my imagination: it requires consistency, attention to detail and time arrangement.

When we were in Shanghai, honey never do pick-up or drop-off stuff, now he is willing to be my chauffeur every day. With the environment change, people can change. :) Recently we were saying, ’ life is so un-predictable, who will believe that we are in a middle-east country, and gonna settle down here for another 3 or 4 years ‘.

Another ramadan just finished days ago, Eid Mubarak!!

Life Rule

If people can focus on their own happiness, rather than attending on others unhappiness, life will be much more cheerful.

When people get afraid, they start attacking others first.

Being jealous but not motivate oneself gonna be long-term torture.

World Cup

I am not a real football fan, but since last last world cup, i started to watch the one of the biggest event in the world.

Honey supports Argentina, and me, Germany. I adore German’s way of working. If they have a plan, they will stick to the plan, according to the situation, adjust the plan till the final success. No matter how the result is, under the process, German work hard, stably and constantly, even when they play football, hence they deserve the best result. Honey’s explanation and comments help me enjoy the game more.

I remember last world cup, Argentina lost the game, they cried on the football court. So many people were touched by those players’ tears, I was one of them. This World Cup, same senario was on the stage again and my sympathy towrads them reduced. People always cheer for the champion, but not always cry with the losers. Don’t cry Argentina, airport time. Try harder in 4 years.

Valcano Ash Cloud

15Apr, my replacement, morning shift, 5:00a.m. as peaceful as usual,we were asked to prepare 1000 rooms for economy class pax. I felt strange but manager said, ‘i am not joking’. 5mins later, news came, valcano in Iceland erupted, affecting the weather in UK due to the ash clouds. Another 5mins, all the flights to U.K destination cancelled in the system. 2hours later, we received more than 1000 pax in arrival, waiting for the rooms. Diverstion started immediately and everybody was requested to stay back till 22:00 at night.

16Apr, my morning shift, in Le Meridian, Business and First class transit hotel. 4a.m. reported on duty, took hand over, which is like a mess. Whole day, non stop, answering the phone, from transfer desk, arrival and other hotels, meanwhile receiving pax and answering their ‘same’ questions. Pax was a little bit anxious comparing to the first day, cause everybody watched news, read the papers, surfed the internet. Situation was not going better, flights to German and France destinations also effected. People were worried about their flights, their stay in Dubai and their expenses. We need to take care those who already stuck in Dubai from 15Apr, those who just arrived in Dubai. Oustations were informed stop boarding pax to those effected destinations. With in a short time, we collected the information ( destinations, rooms numbers and tkt numbers ) from all the hotels which we used ( more than 100 ),  Again, stayed till 23:00.

17Apr, my night shift, in Le Meridian. Every 15mins, updated email sent to inform the flight situation. The number of the pax who stuck in Dubai increased to 5000 or more. Everybody worked under stress, long working time, no eating, no toilet, no drinking.

The following day, same, following day, following day, nobody knows when it will stop.

21Apr my last night before my vacation. Surprisingly all the flights operating, suddenly, all the rush gone. Back to my normal daily work. It seems like a dream or a joke from the God. A little hill, a small movement of a little hill, made us a big loss, hustle and bustle. Now we appreciate our normal peaceful life.

p.s. Even in such chaos, we did our best to arrange a small wedding party for a newly engaged couple. They supposed to go back to U.K. for their planned wedding, somehow stuck in Dubai with nobody’s fault. All the dress and decoration were borrowed from other passengers, red capet was prepared and photos were taken, through webcam, they managed to have a on-time wedding with Emirates.

Why I’m a Catholic

Recently a lot of people ask me this question. I’m not a doctrinist. I do not believe those who go to church on every Sunday, pray before each meal, obey all the creed, read the bible are so-called good believer of religion. In this Muslim country, 5-times pray a day, alchole restrictive, hands-cut-off for stealling… , crime still exists ( maybe the percertage compared to the other countries is low ), which means religion cannot totally change people to be what God want us to be. Why we need belief? Why we choose our religion?

There is season to seed and there is season to harvest; there is season though you seed, but no harvest. In life, each one has his moment who feels fragile and broken, tried all the ways, but never succeed. Family and friends support is certainly important, but they are only listeners. That moment, the inner belief is the core to not let yourself give up. The peaceful atmosphere and the heavenly-like decoration of the church can calm me down and make me think. The invention-conversation between me and God gives me courage. I do believe God helps those who help themselves. We were created equal. We are requested to be honest. We give love as if we love ourselves. We feel grateful for each every little things in life. We look at good side of the world instead of complaining. These sayings are the same with my own principle. That’s how I chose to be Catholic.
